Hilton International and Scandic

Hilton International and Scandic Hotels have for several years been using Addsystems´ platform to collect environmental data from all over the world. Data is collected within areas such as use of resources, environmental performance and the system also contains general technical information about the hotels. Hilton Environmental Reporting (HER) is today used by about 1,000 co-workers at about 300 hotels. Since Add is used in every continent, the users are working in the system in 7 different languages and there are plans to add more languages, such as Arabic and Japanese, to the system.

Within the framework of the environmental work, resource efficiency, environmental impact and cost efficiency regarding for instance energy and water has long been important issues for Hilton International and Scandic. The amount of environmental data gathered from all the hotels demands a lot from the system´s ability to handle such large amounts of information. Thanks to the system's flexible language management, Hilton International saw the possibility to obtain a global tool, easily used by everybody, regardless of nationality. 

Each month, three forms are automatically created for every hotel in HER (Add). The forms contain fields for general hotel data and environmental related information such as use of resources. These forms are connected to different types of reports where the values entered in the forms are shown and comparable as regards to earlier months, years, other hotels and countries. In the reports, the hotel size, number of visitors and degree days (variations in temperature) are taken into consideration to enable efficient benchmarking between regions and types of hotels.

HER (Add) gives a good overview for the single hotel as well as for managers at different levels in the worldwide organisation. Simply by pushing a button, the variation of different key ratios like energy per guest night over time can be shown, as well as status for all reporting from all hotels.

By using the system, Hilton International and Scandic hotels can quickly see the consumption for every single hotel and note if the use of resources is moving in the right direction. The system contributes to improvements in global resource efficiency as well as environmental performance for Hilton International and Scandic hotels, all in the effort of maintaining the corporation´s leading position within these areas.
